1997 DBL Cy Young Award

The Doubleday Baseball League is proud to announce the winner of the 1997 Federal League Cy Young Award.

Kevin Brown of the Kansas City Royals has been named the 1997 Atlantic Cy Young Award winner, earning 63 points on 13 ballots cast

The Doubleday Baseball League is proud to announce the winner of the 1997 United League Cy Young Award.

Pedro Martinez of the Montreal Expos has been named the 1997 Pacific Cy Young Award winner, earning 56 points on 12 ballots cast.

1997 DBL Fireman of the Year

The Doubleday Baseball League is proud to announce the winner of the 1997 Federal League Fireman of the Year.

Bryan Harvey of the Florida Marlins has been named the 1997 Atlantic Fireman of the Year winner, earning 65 points on 13 ballots cast.

Richard Hidalgo of the Kansas City Royals has been named the 1997 Atlantic Rookie of the Year winner, earning 57 points on 13 ballots cast.

1997 DBL Award Voting — Closed

Voting for the 1997 DBL season awards has officially closed.

Thank you to all owners who submitted their ballots. Results are now being tabulated and the award winners will be announced shortly.

Stay tuned to the DBL Clubhouse for the official winner announcements.

Since the conclusion of the season, the league has lost three owners, with uncertainty surrounding another organization as well. With the potential of losing four owners during a single offseason, and the increasing difficulty in finding long-term replacement ownership, the league is currently evaluating a reduction from 24 teams down to 20 teams.

League leadership is actively working through plans regarding how a potential contraction process would be handled, including what would happen to affected organizations and their players. Additional information and details regarding these discussions will be released in the near future.

The Doubleday Baseball League would like to announce that Hagen has decided to step away from ownership of the Cincinnati Reds organization.

We would like to sincerely thank Hagen for their time, dedication, and contributions to both the Reds franchise and the DBL community. Their efforts and participation within the league have been greatly appreciated.

On behalf of the DBL, we wish Hagen all the best in their future endeavors. The door will always remain open should they ever decide to return to the league in the future.

The Doubleday Baseball League is saddened to announce that DanWard94 has decided to step away from ownership of the Baltimore Orioles organization.

We would like to thank DanWard94 for their time, effort, and contributions to both the Orioles franchise and the DBL community. Their participation and dedication to the league have been greatly appreciated.

On behalf of the DBL, we wish them nothing but success in their future endeavors. As always, the door remains open should they ever choose to return to the league in the future.

With this departure, the Baltimore Orioles organization will now enter the ownership search process as the DBL begins looking for new leadership for the franchise.

1997 DBL Award Voting — Now Open

Award voting for the 1997 DBL season is now officially open.

All team owners are invited to submit their ballots for the following awards in both the Federal League and United League:

• Most Valuable Player (MVP)
• Cy Young Award
• Fireman of the Year
• Rookie of the Year
• Gold Glove (per position)
• Silver Slugger (per position)

Votes are cast on a 5-3-1 ranked ballot (1st place · 2nd place · 3rd place). Self-voting is permitted.

Voting closes: June 2, 2026 at 9:00 AM
